Following the current situation generated by the emergence of the new Coronavirus and rising incidence of COVID-19 on Romania’s territory, Habitat for Humanity Romania postpones all current events until after 2 May 2020. This decision stems from our responsibility for the health and safety of volunteers, partners and communities where we are involved and, last but not least, of Habitat for Humanity Romania employees.
Furthermore, we announce the suspension of the national as well as of the international volunteering program, through which Habitat for Humanity Romania hosts volunteer teams on the building sites where we operate, due to reasons related to exposure risks and the spreading of the new virus.
By adopting this decision, Habitat for Humanity Romania aligns itself to the measures already taken by Habitat for Humanity at global level, as well as to the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the provisions of national and local authorities.
It is a difficult decision, with multiple consequences and financial hurdles for the organization, for partner- families and the communities we serve. However, we deem it is a responsible and necessary decision.
We publicly apologize for further delays related to ongoing projects. These will, most probably, face delays as regards their final stage, but we stand by our promise to undertake all necessary steps to carry out our mission and provide a decent roof to those who so much need it.
We will follow up with information as regards the resuming of our events in the period after 2 May 2020.
Thank you for your understanding!
