Management change at Habitat for Humanity Romania

After three successful years as the National Director at Habitat for Humanity Romania, Mario De Mezzo Management change at Habitat for Humanity Romania has resigned to pursue a professional opportunity outside of Habitat for Humanity. He will continue supporting Habitat Romania on a volunteer basis as a member of Habitat for Humanity Romania’s Board.

Effective August 15, Mario will become the communications director at a multinational corporation.

Mario took office as the National Director of Habitat for Humanity Romania in October 2013, charged with consolidating Habitat Romania’s operations, increasing the organization’s brand value, and rebuilding local fundraising capacity. Under his leadership, the annual budget doubled, over 25,000 people have better housing conditions, and the program has become sustainable.

“I have managed to meet all of the objectives I took on when I came to Habitat for Humanity Romania three years ago,” said Mario. “I am proud to leave behind a solid and united team, who will successfully continue the projects we started. However, it is time for me to pursue a new professional challenge. I am glad I will be able to continue helping as a board member of Habitat Romania, which I continue to cherish in my heart. I would like to thank all of the people I worked with here, my colleagues, sponsors and partners, and I am looking forward to continuing my work from my new position.”

“We look forward to Mario’s continued support as a member of Habitat Romania’s Board, and we would like to thank Mario for his great contribution over the last three years and wish him well.”, said Greg Foster, Area Vice President Habitat for Humanity Europe, Middle East and Africa.

As per pre-existing succession planning, Gabriel Pascal, currently the Program Director, who has been with Habitat for Humanity Romania for the last 12 years, will become interim national director until a selection process has been completed.
